A rather pleasing mid 19th century portrait of a French gentleman, Monsieur Molenchon, at the age of 83..

Bearing in mind Monsieur Molenchon was born in 1759 he would have already been thirty  years of age at the start of the French Revolution.   

We rather suspect Monsieur Molenchon, still a rather proud grand figure at the age of 83, wore a chestnut brown wig for the portrait.

Inscribed to back in French (translated) : “Portrait of M. Molenchon painted at the age of 83 by his friend P. Lacroix.  Paris on June 30th 1842”
